Here she is, a young mother.
And here, a couple of years before she lost the love of her life.

Norma Hedberg , 96, of Salem died Monday, February 17.
Norma was born in Three Forks, Montana to John and Layannah
Leek. In 1921 the family moved to a farm
in Woodburn, where she grew up. She
attended Willamette University for two years before transferring to Wheaton
College, graduating with a degree in Christian Education. In 1941 she moved to Seattle where she met
and married Chester Hedberg. She lived
in Seattle while Chester served in World War II. They moved to Salem in 1949 where Norma began
her teaching career. She taught at Salem
Academy for twelve years and South Salem High School for eight years. She also
taught classes at her church for many years.
She retired from teaching in 1972 and joined Chester in their business,
Salem Office Supply, until their retirement in 1983. Although they spent many
winters in Arizona and California, they remained in Salem near their children
and grandchildren for their remaining years.
Even though Norma was a quiet and gentle soul, many agree
that she had a powerful, positive, influence on many young people through her
teaching career.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, who
died in December of 2009. She is
survived by her two sons, LeRoy Hedberg (Nancy) and Alan Hedberg (Mary), by
five grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014
at Keizer Funeral Chapel, 4365 River Road N., Keizer, Oregon. Remembrances may be made to Salem Academy
Christian Schools in the name of Norma Hedberg.
