Road trip - Day 22

We left as soon as we could from Dallas. We found we were in the middle of an "AKON" convention. Thousands of "gamers" dressed in their costumes (We had dinner next to "Mario"!) We couldn't get out of there fast enough...tried to have brkfst in their midst at the motel, but when the rabbit ears on the guy in front of me started to wiggle..I'M OUTA HERE! We decided to get on the road and find a McDonalds and eat on the run! Headed for Lyons, Kansas...stopped for lunch and found this mother getting lunch for her family by the restaurant in a...I guess it was a drainage ditch.

Drove the 400+ miles to Lyond and found our friends house. John Wall greeted us...

and Lola showed us to our room and fixed a dinner for us.We had so much catching up to do, we thot we should go for a ride before it got too late.

They took us to Lyons High School where John spent so much of his career...here is the theater where he gave so many concerts.

Here are the many awards his choirs won for him.

And of course, the Lion outside the school he helped put on the map!
They showed around the town and gave us a great overview of it and its people...we can now understand why they love it here. More to see and do tomorrow...see ya
