Road Trip - Day 23B

What a surprise!!!As I downloaded today's pictures, out popped the ones from yesterday that I thot were lost forever....silly camera, playing tricks on me!
So, here we are in the salt mines getting ready for our "ride through the dark" (I am not excited about this one!)

Made it through the dark. (Not as bad as I was thinking) Now, Nancy has to take a whack with the pick axe...not bad for a girl. Let me show you how...

with one hand!!!

The motley crew gettin ready to go back up to daylight.

This is a model of how they made the shaft to the 600+ level.

We left there to eat at the steak house located at the airport...REALLY GOOD STEAKS!

Next we headed to Inman, the home of Nancy's father, as he grew up here.

We found the church, one of at least 3 Mennonite churches...this is the one his family went to, but looked a bit newer than the one Adolph attended.

We then discovered a cemetary and looked for her grandfathers stone....this not the right Hildebrand, but may be some sort of relative....but where was her grandfathers stone? We went back to town and asked a couple of people if there was another cemetary...found that each mennonite church had their own cemetary and we were not at the Zoar cemetary, but they told us how to find it...

Here it is

We found his stone...our quest is over!

This memorial is across the street from the cemetery and shows a picture of the old church bldg.
Now you see why I was so upset about losing these pictures, this being one of the more meaningful memories for Nancy...ROOTS!
