Road Trip - Day 32

We got a late start this morning. We woke this morning to a thunderstorm and then it turned very "muggy", up to the 80 degree,s We spent the day driving over 300 miles through Nebraska into SOUTH (not North like I said yesterday) Dakota. Each state is unique in its landscape. Nebraska was flat with rolling hills, lots of cattle feed lots. very green and bigger trees than we had seen for a long time. S Dakota, more hills, higher ones  more horses aw well as cattle. both states had amazing amounts of farm land and little towns.
We finally settled in Wall, home of Wall Drugs...you know the signs - (__miles to Wall Drugs) They are literally all over the world. In 1982 Ted said on a good summer day they would have 20,000 visitors. Here is the main street in Wall.

We plan to see this museum in the morning as it was closed when we arrived...

but there were two tribes people putting on a little show with a talk of their culture and beliefs as well as showing some of their dances.

It was a great show. This gentleman is from the Lakota tribe, one of many in the black hills and Badlalnds areas which explorers named Sioux...he says he doesn't even know what Sioux means. Tomorrow we will go through the museum.

We then had to explore just what this store was...

a lot of stores , like an indoor mall with many interesting things on the walls and along the walkways.

I am not sure what this guy said to Nancy, but she got up and moved.

There is a small store in the mall which was a replica of Ted Husted's (the founder of Wall Drugs) drug store. We were pleased to see that there is a "Travelers Chapel in the mall!

Neat!
Tomorrow, Mount Rushmore. The news reports that the rain storm in the SE part of the state has flooded cities near Rapid City...glad we did not go that way to get here! See you tomorrow.
