Road trip - Day 27

We spent the morning at one of our past Presidents library. This was on his desk...can you guess who it was???

If you guessed Harry Truman...you are right. Here is his office while he was President.

Did you know that his secretary had a hidden door...can you find it?

It is comforting to know that even then families could not agree. A Norman Rockwell painting.

I guess that even then the press was on the politicians

For a President who had to deal with having to make the decision to drop the atomic bomb to end the war, the many politacal problems he had seem to pale. None of us would want to have to make such a decision. Here are his words as he left office.

Nancy had to have a little talk with Harry before we finished...

and I had to find out what they talked about.

The library is just about a mile or two from their home in Independence, MO

We had lunch at Dennis and Vickie's then headed to their cabin on the Lake of the Ozarks. We found a great place to take a rest on the way. Remember these.

I could not believe my eyes...an old service station in the little town on the way to the lake

Someone has kept it up pretty well. It is the only real one I have ever seen other than in pictures.

I wish it had been open...that is the lowest I have seen gas prices on this whole trip!
More from the Lake tomorrow...see ya
